MELODY’s Final Act: the event in Granada

A week of art, music and collaboration

The MELODY project came held its final international event in Granada, hosted by our partner IES Luis Bueno Crespo.

From 26 to 30 January 2026, the project partners, together with two beneficiaries from each country, travelled to the beautiful Spanish city for a week of concluding activities. The participants, who had been participating in workshops and activities in their own countries, finally had the chance to meet in person and make the most of the musical journey they had embarked on over the past year.

The meeting brought staff, participants and students together in a lively programme focused on creativity, collaboration and cultural exchange. Here’s how the final week of MELODY unfolded!

Creativity in action through poetry, art and design

One of the key themes of the week was the connection between art, poetry and technology.

Participants took part in a workshop led by La música de las esferas, the innovative project created by IES Luis Bueno Crespo. During the session, beneficiaries drew by hand the poems they had written as lyrics for the music created through the digital storytelling activities carried out during the year. It was a fascinating way to explore the visual interpretation of poetic texts.

After this first hands-on approach to the Música de las Esferas methodology, participants were invited to draw the same poem again, this time using the software GeoGebra. By working with digital tools, they transformed their poetic texts into mathematical and geometric visualisations. These became the basis for the 3D-printed figures, tangible sculptures inspired by their poetic texts. To round off the activity, everyone co-created a final text using collaborative writing and shared reflection techniques.

These activities culminated in the inauguration of the exhibition of the 3D sculptures representing the rhymes of the texts produced, displayed inside the Luis Bueno Crespo school.

Music as a shared language

Music played a central role throughout the week and proved once again to be a powerful tool for bringing people together.

Thanks to the presence of our partner Orchestra Improvvisata and their Ritmo con Segnimethodology, participants rehearsed the three songs developed by the different groups during the project. One of the final official rehearsals also involved students from IES Luis Bueno Crespo.

The most emotional moment, however, was the final concert in the main square in front of the Town Hall of Armilla (Granada). Despite the weather not being on our side, the visibly excited young performers took to the stage and delivered a wonderful public performance, presenting their three songs and showcasing the 3D sculptures that represented the stories told in their lyrics.

It was a truly unforgettable finale.

Cultural experiences and shared moments

Alongside the structured activities, the participants included time for socialising and discovering the local culture. Lunch breaks and free time allowed participants to relax and connect informally.

One of the most breathtaking moments of the week was the evening visit to the Alhambra, which left everyone speechless.

These shared experiences strengthened the bonds between beneficiaries and partners, adding a valuable cultural dimension to the project and closing MELODY on a high note.

What’s Next?

The week in Granada is over, but the story doesn’t end here.

We are hard at work preparing a documentary to showcase everything that went down in Granada, all the moments of creativity and cultural abundance. This documentary will then be shown in the local communities of Foligno and Rome, to the participants of the workshops as well as the public, to share the message of MELODY and show how music empowers local diversity.

Our platform on Hubs is also undergoing upgrades, with the Granada materials being integrated to finally make the virtual space complete.
